Acrylic Impact Modifiers, based on a core–shell structure, play a critical role in rigid PVC formulations by enhancing impact strength and weatherability. The elastomeric core absorbs mechanical stress, while the acrylic shell ensures full compatibility with the PVC matrix. This mechanism results in products that deliver reliable and consistent performance under mechanical load, UV exposure, and outdoor conditions
Compared to CPE, AIM provides superior color stability and significantly better resistance to weathering, making it the preferred choice for outdoor applications. In contrast to MBS, while AIM offers slightly lower transparency, it ensures much higher UV stability and long-term durability in outdoor environments. For this reason, AIM has become the material of choice in the production of PVC window profiles, pipes and fittings, and rigid sheets intended for demanding exterior use
