Optical brighteners play an important role in improving the whiteness and transparency of polymer products. Among them, OB-1 and FP-127 are widely used additives that can be selected depending on the nature of the polymer and processing conditions.
OB-1, due to its benzoxazole structure and high thermal stability, is an ideal choice for polymers processed at elevated temperatures. It shows excellent performance in PET, PA, PC, and polyolefins, providing long-lasting whiteness and preventing discoloration during extended processing cycles. For this reason, OB-1 is commonly applied in synthetic fibers, transparent films, and engineering plastics.
In contrast, FP-127, with its triazine-based structure and strong fluorescence, demonstrates the highest efficiency in general-purpose polymers such as PVC, PS, EVA, and polyolefins. Even at low dosage levels, FP-127 delivers high whitening power, brightness, and transparency, making it suitable for thin films, injection-molded parts, and transparent products.
Selecting the right brightener between OB-1 and FP-127 allows manufacturers to optimize performance according to polymer type and processing conditions, achieving the desired level of quality, appearance, and durability in polymer applications.
